The map provided here is based on the postcode of the venue.
Royal mail are very good at allocating postcodes to buildings
but much less good at lakes and rivers. Therefore where a
venue does not really have a postcode I have tried to find a
postcode that is as close as possible to the venue. This might
be that of a nearby hotel or even the village post office. You
should therefore always ensure you have proper directions
for the last half-mile or so to the venue.

My first visit to Timsbury today, and was fly-fishing for Grayling on a course ticket. A lovely spot, a good long stretch of the main Test, plus a delightful carrier stream. As there is no game fishing at this time of year,(and on a Sunday), there were a good many coarse anglers complete with maggots, worms and spinners etc etc, which kind of knocked the edge off it having to compete with them,(as well as seeing them pull out trout hand over fist). That said, it was an enjoyable day. As well as trout, saw salmon, pike, chubb, carp, and of course some lovely grayling. I will certainly go back to Timsbury again - probably a beter bet on a week-day when we have a good frost on the ground.

I paid   :  £18
Stayed :  7 Hours
Caught :  Grayling

I tried for grayling here in early Feb. There is a lot of water to fish. The Test is a big, wide and relatively fast flowing river at this point and quite difficult on light gear. One of the feeder streams looks perfect for grayling but on the day I went it was in flood and very coloured. Needless to say I blanked but there are evidently plenty of fish in there as the coarse boys were catching brown trout and sea trout on worms and maggots. The bailiff claimed a 2lb 11oz grayling had been taken earlier in the week. I will give it 3 stars as it clearly has potential although the conditions were against me. Probably best not to try to fly-fish it after rain!
