What a change from last year! The new bailiffs are doing a terrific job and are extremely helpful.
It is such a pretty spot and there are some monsters in the bottom lake.
They are some of the best fighting fish I have ever come across in over 40 years fishing.
Just as I was about to pack up I connected with a 7lb brown who gave me a memorable tussel and was in superb condition
I paid : £35
Stayed : 2 hours
Caught : 7lb brownie and 5lb rainbow
Best fly: Damsels and montanas
Tactics : golheads with a slow retrieve

I went for the first time on 07/10/09 and despite being advised to get a 3 fish ticket I opted for the 4 from the specimen lake.
The countryside scenery is very pretty here, but I stopped short of giving the venue 5 stars because of the rather in-yer-face cctv survielance and the quite large green aerator in the middle of the lake.
I understand however that both these things may well be necessary.
Going back to the fishing, I bagged-up rather easily, taking fish of 5lb 8oz and 3 4lb fish.
There were signs of many bigger fish but I missed out on this occaision.
Would definitely go again.
I paid : £55
Stayed : 08:30-13:30
Caught : 4 r/b
Best fly: Leaded GRHE & seals fur damsel nymphs
Tactics : Floater only needed. Dam & aerator good areas

I paid a visit to see what I might be paying for. One fisherman was left of 22 who had all been there since 8.30am. During this time only eleven fish were caught so most blanked. The one chap left had blanked and as it was 5.15 pm, hed had enough and went home. The price of £55 is expensive. Many large fish were jumping a mile out of the water, so the fishwere there but not taking after mid morning.May I suggest a voucher for those who paid good money and caught less than their quota. That would encourag me back and, I prsume, many others. Nice location but poor hut conditions.
I paid : Just looking
Stayed : One hour
Caught : NA
Best fly: A dozen tried by man I watched
Tactics : Learn to fish well

Fished Blackwool Farm a week ago on Thursday and on arrival was met by a chap in the clubhouse who was certainly not optimistic about the fishing at all! When i asked how the fishing was his reply was well do you want the truth..absolutely terrible!! I was not chuffed, having picked a day with nearly gale force winds and almost constant bright sunshine. Nevertheless i chose not to pack up but to rather gamble my £35. I was not dissapointed!!!! For the first 15 minutes it was dead, until i came to the underwater oxygen pump...thing. It was quite a distance and would require an almost out of reach cast but i slowly started to make out a huge shoal of black torpedos on the far end of the bubbles. It required a full cast almost down to backing but having fished estuaries i was used to this.
I paid : £35
Stayed : 4 hours
Caught : rainbows
Best fly: stalking bug and large mayfly
Tactics : let it drift.....and wait for the action!!

I have fished here a number of times and on most occasions the fishing has been hard. I have had one exellent day - but only one.
Compared with other places the fishing is hard the fish in the toip lake small and it is very expensive. The location/scenary is good. Does not compare well with competitors.
I paid : top lake £35.00 bottom lake £45.00
Stayed : a number of visits full day and half day.
Caught : small fish usually struggling to obtain bag
Best fly: montana
Tactics : slow retreval

Went on a wet & windy day in April. Bought a 3 fish ticket for the Bottom Lake. 2 Anglers in the corner of the Dam wall were catching but everyone else was struggling. Managed to catch my 3 fish, one of which was a 5lb Brownie. However I have to say that the fish were ugly with ragged fins. The water quality was poor also, very muddy, but this could have been due to the conditions. I wouldnt be in a hurry to go back.
I paid : £45
Stayed : 4 hours
Caught : 2 Rainbows 4lb & 3lb I Brown 5lb
Best fly: Damsel
Tactics : Floating Line

I visited Blackwool Farm with my Dad last week, and i must say we had a great day. The location is perfect and easy to get to from the A3.
We fished the Top lake and took 6 fish about 2lb each all on a Green Montana. I think we will have a go on the bottom lake next time as they stock it with much larger fish. Friendly staff and great fishing !

What it lacks in facilities the fishing more than makes up for it. Excellent day in challenging conditions. Anything black seems to work on the fly front

Having only fished there once I found it well maintained. I have been fly fishing for twenty years and my friend for 30 years plus years. It is understandable that trout fishing isnt easy this time of year due to the water temperature. We fished solidly for several hours trying all kind of diffrent fly and line combinations and retrieve rates in almost near perfect conditions but we failed to catch. Before we started fishing I asked the Bailiff what is the fishing like? he replied GOOd, VERY GOOD, so we bought to tickets 55 pounds each. not cheap I might add. Alas it wasnt good and reports from some of the regular anglers were It hasnt been fishing well for 5-6 weeks. I cant understand why on earth when you ask a simple question you get a load of miss truth back. Why couldnt he have simply

Have only fished here once,on the big fish lake.Had four fish for 21lb,so reasonable average size and excellent fighting qualities. However a couple of fish were very ragged finned with poor gill condition.Poor facilities in a tatty hut. However i would return for another try and would give the upper lake a try also.

Rather expensive for the big fish lake if you end up with 4 fish in the 4Lb range! However when you get one of the large doubles and there are a lot of them, it is all more than worth the odd disappointment. Super healthy fish with a good head of Blues.
Fish deep for the bigger fish.

I have regularly fished at Blackwool Farm Fishery this winter and spring & experienced excellent sport with both rainbows and blues from 3lb - 4lb upwards with a fair proportion considerably larger up to unknown weights! There is an excellent bailiff, Derek, whos hard work and expert advice on fishing locations & depths, due to weather conditions are a great help.A beautiful location for wildlife etc.A very fair price structure (compared to others) the thrill of the unknown monster ( having seen some very large fish caught ) These fish are excellent eating as well. Looking forward to many more trips to Blackwool this year

Fished the upper lake today. Changes are underway with all new seats around the lakes, brush clearing in progress to open new areas and extra stockings of a few large fish in the upper lake and some rumoured huge ones in the lower specimen lake. We were promised a limit before lunch for two and it was easily achieved with feisty rainbows and blue rainbows in the 2-3.5lb bracket. Regular visits from the bailiff to check on progress and pass along hints and tips were appreciated and the location is excellent. Beautiful spot in the Sussex countryside.
IMO prices are a little high for the upper lake and no catch and release after reaching your limit can mean a short day if the fish are hungry. Would I go back though - yes!
