This is my favourite C&R smallwater, very secluded and great for improving your casting skills be it by way of back casting through the big oaks, or side casting on the hem of the birch trees lining the lake, for those who dont want to challenge their casting abilities, Richard has recently cut back the birch trees on the west bank, as the snow load felled them recently!
The dry fly fishing is outstanding, with fish rising all year round with a PB of 21 fish for the day on cdc & wulffs, and with a particular damsel technique I took 19 fish in 5 hrs (Friday 12th Feb 10)
The fishery is in a secluded valley wall approximately 120feet wide with steep bank rising to 40 feet on east and a gradient rising to farmland on the west, buffeted by birch trees, wind is quite rare, The pools also
I paid : £28 C & R

Beautiful place to fish during the week.
Unfortunately if you go there on a busy day you may find casting a problem.
If the owner got his strimmer out & just gave the place a little trim, it would have got 5 stars from me.
Still great though, with a decent average size of fish with the odd bigger one for good measure.
I paid : £30
Stayed : 8 hours
Caught : 3 x r/b
Best fly: Hacklepoint coachman dry & GRHE
Tactics : Dry flies work well here

28/2/09 was a red-letter day for me. 6 trout caught, smashing my PB with a fish of just under 8lb. This is the most intimate place I have ever fished. On my first trip here in Jan 08 I caught 10 (yes 10!) trout and I was a complete novice. I love this place.
I paid : 30
Stayed : 6 hours
Caught : 3 killed, 3 cnr
Best fly: Ashamed to say Orange Blob
Tactics : They are all over the place

This is a fantastic little Fishery. Really secluded and quiet. There were some problems with too many tangles occuring due to the trees not being cut back - But Richard has seen to this. Get down there with soem Blue flash Damsels and some gold head Black and Green Montana in your armoury. The parking isnt great but there is a lot of choise when it comes to lakes and tactics. No restriction when it comes to Lures and you can have a family on if you want but its mostly shallow water that you would just put on a single fly with a floating line. You dont need more that 6lb strain as you dont want to hit the bank on the other side. All in all a fantastic quaint little fishery that is superb value for Money and keeps us going back again and again.

A very compact venue with 3 lakes and 3 smaller "holes in the ground". The fishery would benefit from a little bit of bankside clearance to prevent tangles and to open it up a little bit.
However the quality of the fish is first class and they fight really well. Not the easyest venue i have fished but this makes it better in my mind. Small flies are the order of the day here. Best to fish during the week as there are not too many swims to fish that are clear for casting when it gets busy. Also the car park is small as well. I would score the fishery higher if the owner was to remove some of the overhanging trees and obstructions from the lakes, especially from the top and bottom lakes.

An interesting venue, quite small but quaint. A lot of bank side vegetation so limited back cast. Fish very hard fighting and it top condition. Size average around the 2lb mark. A good evening rise so dry fly a must. Graet value evening catch and release as fish really switch on hour before dusk. Venue has a sort of Hobits Shire feel. Fishery owner very friendly and accommodating.
